The headline finding. Agentic AI dominated the trade-press narrative, about 35% of all coverage. But on LinkedIn the practitioners’ number-one topic was streaming and FAST (26%), and they over-indexed on interoperability, production and live sports. The distance between what vendors promised and what operators actually discussed is the real story of IBC 2026.
Center stage

Corporate comms vs the real talk

Every theme is plotted twice. The blue dot is the trade press, the industry’s official, corporate-comms version of the show. The purple dot is LinkedIn, the real talk from people who were actually on the floor. The wider the gap between the two dots, the bigger the difference between the story that was sold and the conversation that was had. Tap any theme to read what each side actually said.

Our Partners at IBC2026

We scanned the entire captured conversation, 200+ news sources and 1,281 LinkedIn posts, for our partner network. 48 partners surfaced. Here are the most visible, and the theme each one’s conversation was circling around.

Google, AWS, Microsoft and IBM counts include the wider AI conversation, not only media. And a partner showing zero simply did not surface in this scrape, it is not proof they were quiet at the show.

The future

What everyone is promising

The forward-looking claims that ran through the show. Tap any card to flip it: the front is the promise, the back is the reality check.

The through-line

IBC 2026 promised autonomous everything: agents that run production, sign up subscribers, price offers and render pixels on the fly. The floor, meanwhile, was still wiring up IP standards, arguing about interoperability and keeping a human hand on anything that touches money, rights or a live feed.

That is not a contradiction, it is the pattern of every real technology shift. The winners will be the ones who close the gap between the promise and the plumbing, and who remember what one post-show headline put plainly: despite the hype, humans are still the most important link in media tech, for now.

Method. Theme share is mention frequency across each corpus: the trade-press column pools roughly 200 IBC 2026 news sources, articles and official-programme pages; the LinkedIn column pools 480 IBC-tagged posts (from 1,281 scraped). Company attributions and future promises are drawn from documented announcements and sessions. Attendance figures are from IBC and TV Tech. Shares describe the tracked conversation, not the whole show. This is analysis of what was said, not an endorsement of any claim. Window: 10–24 September 2026.
